Reepham Christmas tree electricity supply

FOR nearly 20 years the parish council at Reepham has provided the village with a Christmas tree in the village centre, with power being provided by a nearby resident.

Among the traditions is a “carols around the Christmas tree” service that attracts hundreds of visitors. 

The resident has sold off a portion of his land meaning that he can no longer provide the electricity to light the tree. The Star Energy Community Fund grant helped install a permanent electricity supply to the village green in order that the Christmas tree can be lit up in future years.

Unfortunately bad weather meant the carol service had to take place indoors in 2009, but will hopefully take place "around the Christmas tree" again in 2010.
