New scout hut for Stockbridge

THE 14th Andover (Stockbridge) Scout Group scout group serves Stockbridge and nine surrounding villages. It has nearly 60 scouts between the ages of five and 16. The plan is to replace the old and rapidly deteriorating hut with a new one providing 131 square metres of flexible hall.

Stockbridge has limited facilities for younger people – the scout group is the only out-of-school activity on a weekly basis. Local research highlighted the additional need for a youth club which would use the new building. With hire opportunities to other community groups, it is estimated a total of 400 people could use the new hut every week. The group has already managed to raise some £66,000 towards the overall project cost of £142,000.
