Relateen young people's counselling service

Grant - £2,000

RELATEEN is a counselling service for young people aged 10 to 18 who have been affected by the breakdown of their parents’ relationships. It started in 2009 with a £6,200 grant from the fund and has been awarded a further £2,000 towards the continuation of its work.

It has focused in particular on a satellite service in the Tillingbourne ward of Guildford Borough Council, which covers Albury and surrounding villages. The satellite service began counselling 10 and 11-year-olds at Tillingbourne Junior School in Chilworth, in January 2010; it sees three to four clients weekly and has a waiting list. In Guildford Town Centre, counsellors trained through our funding started seeing clients in September; they see three youngsters each week.
